What is 2-1-1?
Every hour of every day, people in our community need help, from
finding substance abuse assistance to securing quality care for a child
or an aging parent. There are so many agencies, services and help lines-
it's hard to know where to turn. 2-1-1 is changing that!
2-1-1 is a single number to call when you don't know who to call. This
easy to remember phone number connects people to health and human
services, community needs and civic involvement opportunities. Calls
to 2-1-1 are free, confidential and available 24/7.
2-1-1 is not an automated system! Calling 2-1-1 connects you with real
people trained in navigating the maze of health and human services.
These services address many needs such as employment support, shelter
from domestic violence, clothing, healthcare, legal aid, substance abuse
treatment, transportation and so much more.
2-1-1 does not replace existing agencies or services. 2-1-1 supports
both nonprofit and government agencies by connecting them with people
who may need their help. 2-1-1 works daily to update and maintain the
best possible information on community resources, including working with
the Louisville Metro Call 311. Agencies can inform 2-1-1 of updated
information on their programs through the 2-1-1's online Community
Resource Database at any time.
During a disaster, storm or crisis, 2-1-1 supports 911 and Emergency
Management operations by providing non-emergency information. This helps
keep 911 available for true emergency calls.
Special thanks to Louisville Metro Government for their partnership
grant support of 2-1-1!
