About Success By 6
What is Success By 6?
United Way Success By 6 is the nation’s largest network of early childhood coalitions, focused on improving school readiness through community change. In more than 350 communities, Success By 6 coalitions are changing the way things work so young children can come to school ready to succeed. Metro United Way Success By 6 was launched in 2000 with the goal that every child in our community is healthy, safe, nurtured, and prepared to succeed in school by age six.
This initiative is rooted in the understanding that the earliest years of life are critical to human development. We believe so strongly in the long term benefits of supporting young children and their families that we recently committed to leading our community in assuring that by 2017 all children enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.
Ensuring that all of our children are prepared for school requires a long-term commitment from families, service providers, policymakers, businesses, educators, and civic leaders.
Success By 6 provides a structure to encourage people and organizations to work together for the benefit of children. The unique opportunities for collaboration and partnerships among the public and private sectors that this initiative offers represent our collective commitment to doing what it takes to help the youngest members of our community achieve success.
