Success By 6: Early Care and Education

Goal:  “All children in our community experience quality early care and education opportunities.”

Every experience a child has before entering kindergarten impacts his or her early care and education.  Increasing the quality of those experiences is critical to ensuring that all children are fully prepared to be successful in school.  It is an extremely high priority to increase the affordability of and access to quality early care and education experiences, whether formal or informal.

Born Learning

Everyday life is a learning experience for children. Born Learning is a public engagement campaign that helps parents, grandparents, and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday moments into fun learning opportunities.

Advocacy

Metro United Way Success By 6 believes that creating community-wide improvements for young children requires us to help shape early childhood and family policies.  We are uniquely positioned to serve as a voice for children, families and caregivers in the public policy arena. We are working with child advocates throughout the state to create policy that truly benefits children and families, and develop the grassroots support to get those policies enacted.  The Blueprint for Kentucky’s Children outlines important issues that we are working to make a difference on in the 2008 legislative session.  To see the Blueprint click here (http://www.kyyouth.org/Advocacy/Childrens_Day/documents/07pub_Blueprint.pdf)
